Success Ultimately Reassures Everyone

Through Monroe SURE, young people are encouraged to pursue success as a source of reassurance and hope. The program provides a supportive setting in which youth can focus on character building, skills development, community service hours, and short-term mission trips.

Character Building

Character-building activities may include discussions about honesty, respect, responsibility, perseverance, and making positive decisions. Youth may also participate in mentoring conversations, reflection exercises, conflict-resolution activities, and projects that encourage empathy and accountability.

Skills Development

Skills-development opportunities may include goal-setting activities, communication exercises, leadership roles, teamwork projects, study-support sessions, and academic or career-readiness activities. These experiences help youth strengthen their abilities and prepare for continued personal, educational, and professional growth.

Community Service Hours

Community service activities may include helping with neighborhood cleanups, assisting at community events, supporting food or clothing drives, and volunteering with local organizations. Through these experiences, youth put their developing character and skills into practice while contributing to their community.

Short-Term Mission Trips

Short-term mission trips may include assisting with community improvement projects, supporting educational and sporting activities, helping distribute essential supplies, and participating in service-based faith activities. These trips provide youth with opportunities to serve others, develop practical skills, and take part in meaningful experiences.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Chaplain Carey has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to supporting young people and strengthening communities. In 1993, he founded Programme S.U.R.E. (Success Ultimately Reassures Everyone), a public alternative school in The Bahamas that supported students experiencing ongoing disciplinary challenges. During his six years as principal, he emphasized structure, encouragement, and opportunity. His past community service also includes work with The Bahamas National Crime Commission and leadership as chair of the Bahamas National Youth Advisory Board.

Today, Chaplain Carey serves on the board of Won By One To Jamaica, an organization that provides educational, medical, economic, and spiritual resources. He also serves as an advisory board member for Juvenile Justice Circuit #16 in Florida, developing and supporting Faith-Based Initiatives designed to strengthen young people and their communities.
